ASU's Ron Handy Performs at the National ‘Black Leadership Institute’

One of Alabama State University's most talented and versatile musical artists, Ron Handy, performed recently at the national meeting of the Institute for Non-profit Practice's Black Leadership Institute (Institute). Handy, who serves as a music media technical specialist in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, is well known for his mastery of such varied musical instruments as the piano, clarinet, trumpet and oboe. 

 

"I was honored and overjoyed to be able to represent my Alabama State University at the Institute's recently held meeting in Montgomery," Handy stated. "I presented music at the national organization's meeting held here in the capital city with songs that highlighted the heritage that is representative of the Civil Rights Movement, which was most appropriate since the modern movement was born here."

 

ABOUT THE BLACK LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

Headquartered in Boston, Mass., the Institute is a new national fellowship program that brings together and lifts -up senior level Black leaders so they may better influence and shape the social impact of African-Americans across a vast array of industry sectors.
